Ash Wednesday Pancake Supper

Social Ministry will be holding its annual Pancake Supper on Ash Wednesday, February 17, before the Wednesday evening service. Come and feast on the best pancakes in town with all the “trimmings” and hear a sound message from our pastors at the service following the supper. A love offering at the supper will go to support the Claiborne Hunger Ministries in Claiborne County. Funds will be matched one for two by THRIVENT. The latest figures indicate that 25% of the people in Knoxville live below the poverty limit. In Claiborne County, the percentage is even greater. Our neighbors need our help.
The menu for the supper is:
Pancakes - cooked by Grace's best chefs
Beverages - coffee, lemonade and milk
Syrup - both regular and sugar free
Bacon
Sausage – both patties and links
Supper will start at 5:00 PM and end at 6:15 PM.

LWML Valentine Basket Exchange This Saturday!
This Saturday, February 13 from 10 am until noon, the LWML, (Lutheran Women in Mission), will be having a Valentine Basket Exchange. All women are invited. We missed our prayer partner exchange at Christmas so if you are interested in having a prayer partner for this year we will be exchanging names and information at this event. If you can’t be there but still want a partner, contact Sandie Harjala with your information – birthday and anniversary.
Urgent! Singers Needed for the 8:00 a.m. Heritage Choir
For many reasons, the number of women singing in the Heritage (8:00am) Choir is dramatically reduced. While the remaining singers do a spectacular job, we need more women to participate. No music experience is needed, just a love for singing and a willingness to work with others to bring music into our worship. Practice is Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30pm in the choir room (behind the balcony). For more information talk to any choir member or contact Brian Patton.
Adult Inquiry Class
Come join us the adventure as we discuss the basics of the Christian faith. You do not need to bring anything or have any previous knowledge of the Bible. Childcare is available. We meet from 6:30-8:30pm on Thursdays beginning January 21st in the Fellowship Hall (come in the door by the church office and turn right at the end of the hallway). Pastor Rich has been teaching this class for over 20 years, so won’t you try just one class?
Altar Guild
Would you like to become a part of a group who is in charge of setting up the altar for Sunday mornings? If so, please contact Susie Hurtubise.
GraceNotes Handbell Choir
Our choir is back in full swing. We practice at 6:30pm on Thursday nights in the Choir Room (upstairs in the Sanctuary behind the organ). If you would like more information, please contact our director Charles Parham.
Going International
Crosses for the Brazil Mission Trip
Our Brazil mission team leaves in June. You can be an active part of this mission by helping make crosses for them to take with them. These crosses are small enough to be placed in a pocket and will be a reminder to the people of Brazil of how much God loves them. Between 10:30 and 11am on Sunday mornings there will be a table set up in the Family Life Center lobby demonstrating how to make a cross. Instructions will also be available during the dinner hour on Wednesdays. Please sign your name and let us know how many packets you take. Pray for this mission as you work on your crosses. We are also accepting donations for this project - look for the donation can.
Thrivent Members and Haiti Relief
As a Thrivent member you can turn every $2.00 donated for Haiti relief into $3.00 by going through Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. To learn how, take a copy of the information sheet posted on the Thrivent bulletin board across from the mailboxes. Donations can be made until March 31st. (Thrivent will contribute up to $1,000,000)
